Berastagi, one of the places of interest in North Sumatera is renowned for its fruit grooves, veggies & flower plantation. Besides its agricultural industry, this area, surrounded by mountains which are part of the Bukit Barisan Mountain Range, relies largely on tourism as its mainstay. Visiting the Karo Highland is a worthwhile trip.


Sipiso - Piso Waterfall (± 24 km)
This fascinating waterfall, flowing from a small ravine approximately 98 m, goes further to the north of Lake Toba. Today Sipiso – Piso Waterfall is one of the most frequented tourist spot in North Sumatera.

Mt. Sinabung (± 20 km)
An extreme, grueling hike, requiring about 45 minute drive from Berastagi to reach the drop point of Mt.Sinabung foothill, Lau Kawar Lake and a subsequent 4 hour hike to enjoy the breath-taking view of the surrounding landscape at the top of the mountain.

Mt. Sibayak (± 15 km)
The trip requires a 15 minute drive from Berastagi followed by a 20 minute ascent to reach the top of the mountain, from which we can see the magnificent view of the lush tropical rainforest, the Great Bukit Barisan Mountain Range as well as the still-active crater of the volcano.

Hot Spring in Semangat Gunung Village (± 14 km)
The natural hot spring emerges through lava cracks on the Sibayak volcano slope and runs through bamboo slacks onto pools. The hot springs are believed to have therapeutic qualities good for relieving fatigue and tension. It’s located in a village known as Semangat Gunung.

Local Karo Plantation (± 5 km)
A large proportion of the population makes their living by farming, which contributes to this area’s fame for its various tasty fruits such as oranges, passion fruits, tamarillos, and fresh veggies.

Karo Traditional House in Lingga Village (± 5 km)
This is a traditional house typical of the Karo ethnic group located in Lingga village area, a unique house which remains unchanged through times. Built to house 4 or 8 families of different clans, this house is made up entirely of nature’s gifts such as timbers, palm fibers, and bamboos.

Local Market (± 1 km)
A place set in the hustle and bustle typical of traditional market which caters a wide range of items including fruits, flowers, veggies and hand-made souvenirs.

Gundaling Hill (± 5 km)
Widely famed for its recreational sites, this place, located in the heart of tropical forests, provides tents alongside a hill, from which the grand view of Mount Sibayak and Mount Sinabung is laid bare to see, also the very spot to witness the sunrise and sunset.
